A globe valve, also known as a stop valve, is a type of forced-sealing valve. When closing the valve, pressure must be applied to the valve disc to ensure a tight seal and prevent leakage. When the medium enters the valve from beneath the disc, the operating force must overcome both the friction between the valve stem and the packing, as well as the thrust generated by the medium's pressure.
