A ball valve is a type of valve in which the opening and closing element—a sphere—is driven by a valve stem and rotates about the valve's axis. Ball valves can also be used for the regulation and control of fluid flow. In particular, hard-seated V-port ball valves feature a V-shaped ball core that creates a strong shearing force against a metal seat surfaced with a hard alloy; this makes them exceptionally well-suited for media containing fibers or tiny solid particles.
